Superman Shows Himself by Michael Miller

Recently I had the opportunity to photograph Ezra for his senior pictures.  Ezra is the kind of young man that gives me hope in our future generations.  I really think that these images capture who Ezra is as a young man.  He is a little silly, loves to have fun, and yet he has the intelligence and determination to take on the challenges of the future.

Initially I worked with Ezra and his mom to formulate a plan for his senior portrait shoot.  Ezra wanted to incorporate Superman and a Bible.  I love doing unique shots.  The kind of things that when you do a search on the internet you will not find a million pictures of the same thing.  I have my own style however, it is imperative that I deliver what the family wants.

These pictures go a long way in showing who Ezra is.  I have no idea where Ezra will be in 20 years but I do know that if he continues down his current path he will be extremely successful.

Photographing Your Ride by Michael Miller

For many of you, your ride is a member of the family.  I am talking to you- car, truck and bike people.  The type of person who would park their ride in their living room just to ensure its safety.

I have spoken to so many people lately that have been separated from their ride who don't have quality images of their ride.  This is like not having quality images of your kids.  I would like to share a few things that will help ensure that you have a quality image that you will be able to pass down to your grand kids.

1.  Clean Your Ride-  You would be surprised at how many dirty cars I have seen at car shows.  I mean, you take your pride and joy to an event to show it off and its dirty?  Its like walking your daughter down the aisle in the same clothes you were digging a ditch in.  Its tacky.  The only time I would show up with my ride covered in dirt is when you take your truck out mud digging and you show up with it completely covered.

2.  Get Low- Find a unique angle to take the picture from.  Either get low or get high.  When you just stand there and take the picture as you see it then it is kind of boring.  You will be surprised when you take the same picture with just a different angle how much it changes the image.

3.  Fill the Screen-  Try to have the entire screen filled with your car.  This will limit any possible distractions in the background.  It also helps to highlight some of the most amazing parts of your ride.  (Do watch out for reflections.  They can make or break your image.)

4.  Even Light- When possible, have your entire ride in shade or direct sunlight.  It makes a much more pleasing image when there is not spots of harsh light

5.  Look at what's behind- What is going to be behind your car in the picture?  You want it to accent it not take away from it.  People should be amazed by your ride not all the weird crazy stuff going on around it.

6.  Have fun-  Use this time to explore and have fun with your ride and friends.  Visit new places and share it with everyone.  Let us see all the amazing places you and your ride have been.  #MyCar #OutOfTheTrailer

7.  PRINT THE PICTURES  Get it printed and get it printed big!  Trust me you will never regret a large quality print of your ride.  I would even suggest getting it printed on metal.  On metal your ride will really POP. (Also, a metal print holds up perfectly against garage dirt and grime. It can be washed with Windex and paper towels.)  Might I suggest 20x30?  I know it sounds large but truth be told, it will be about the right size for any house that is at least 1500 square feet.

8.  Hire a Pro-  Find someone that does amazing work and have them get you an heirloom quality print that your great great grandchildren will be fighting over.  A professional will have the ability to capture your ride in all of its glory so that you can show it off on the street or in the home for generations to come.

Sincerely,

Your Automotive Photographer by Michael Miller

The last 12 months have been very busy for us when it comes to automotive photography.  We have been out at car shows all over the Treasure Valley photographing some of the most amazing vehicles.  Many of these vehicles we have even had the opportunity to spend one on one time with.  Some of these portrait type shots have been in a more intimate setting while others have been more of action shots.  One amazing part of all of this has been meeting the owners and learning the story behind each car.  Both the vehicles and their owners are unique, and many times the person is expressed through their ride.

One of the reasons I love automotive photography so much is because I can take the time to look and marvel at amazing engineering while taking the time to capture the unique aspects.  A great car looks amazing when you look at it as a whole.  But what truly makes the car unique and amazing is the small things.  It can be from unique design aspects to custom airbrushing.  It is when all these little things are put together that you get something that forces everyone to stop and take notice.

During the next 12 months we will continually strive to capture unique and amazing shots of one of a kind vehicles.  It can be anything from motorcycles, cars, trucks, or anything else that has tires.  We do hope to start incorporating video into many of these shoots so that we can bring you alongside to see some of the unique rides and locations.  So as we are out and about in the Boise, Nampa area, or anywhere else that amazing rides bring us, we hope to meet you and your ride.

Idaho Photographer Captures X Fest Concert in Idaho by Michael Miller

I love capturing authentic moments.  One of the best ways to do this is while they are having a good time.  While scrolling Facebook I have actually seen multiple posts where there is talk about how being at a concert is good for your health.  I would agree that any time you can have fun, especially with friends.  This year I have shot many concerts and events and I would have to say that I was able to capture some of my favorite images of the year so far.    With only weeks left of summer in Idaho I hope that all of you in the Treasure Valley area will be able to get out and enjoy the days (not to say you can not enjoy winter).  If you are out and about and you see a dude with a very large beard taking what looks to be epic pictures come say HI.

Vans Warped Tour Nampa Idaho by Michael Miller

Having the opportunity to photograph Vans Warped Tour at the Ford Idaho Center was amazing.  I feel extremely blessed to be invited to photograph this event.  Even though it was only 80 degrees outside during this all day event it felt like it was much hotter.  Even with that said I can not wait till next year and the opportunity to capture candid moments of the artist.  One of my favorite images from the day was the one where the artist looks a little like a lion.  Once you see the photo you will understand what i mean.
